Safety Specialist
In this role, you will work directly with drivers by enforcing safety standards in accordance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, serving as the driver's resource for all local, state, and federal laws, as well as company policies, procedures, and all safety practices.

Requirements and Skills

Analyze and manage safety scores to track overall progress and suggest necessary improvements to reduce risk

Monitor and check Logbooks of drivers to ensure FMCSA Compliance

Communicate with drivers for corrective action, updates on new guidelines and preventative communication

Virtual and in person safety meetings with drivers

Assist with on boarding process for new drivers

Coordinate suspensions and terminations with Operations Management

Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of safety especially amongst drivers

Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to best practices

Conduct training and presentations for safety matters and accident prevention

Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and determine appropriate preventive measures

Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures

Collaborate with colleagues on a daily basis

Job Schedule

Must be located in Jacksonville, FL or willing to move to Jacksonville, FL

Qualifications
-
1 year of experience in safety and/or compliance is preferred. We will incorporate a 2 month training window to prepare you for the available position and help you advance in this career. Training can take less than 2 months as pace will be determined based on employee's progress.

Associate's or bachelor's degree in a business related field is preferred.

Strong communication skills

Understanding of FMCSA and DOT regulations.

Strong knowledge of driver logs both ELD and ELD exempt.
